Application of Orange I Heliodon
May 27, 2009
Sun shading of Corso Como with the Garibaldi Repubblica masterplan by Cesar Pelli.
The study was made by Valerio Signorelli for his Master Thesis at Politecnico di Milano in 2008.
The video shows an approximation of the sun-shade because the Orange I heliodon (also known as Pantheon Automatic Heliodon) is a point to point heliodon, where the movement between two points does not follow the path of the sun but simply it follows the shortest path. However, the student interpolated some points between the minimum and maximum position to increase the accuracy of the simulation and the result is visually interesting.
In the video background, there are some artifacts due to the structure built by the end user to support a camera in zenithal position.
